Overtime Review & Giveaway with Toni Aleo

Overtime by Toni Aleo
Series: Assassins Series #7
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Down and out with an injury keeping him away from the game, Assassins’ defenseman Jordie Thomas lives for the blades of his skates on the ice and the feeling of oblivion off it. With no choice but to heal, he’s forced away from the sport that runs through his veins. With everything at stake and darkness setting in, he quickly finds himself spiraling even further out of control. As his life begins to come crashing down around him and his contract with the Nashville Assassins on the line, he’s given an ultimatum. Ready or not, Jordie is forced to face his past, the fears that consume him, and the one woman he let walk away.

Kacey King had her professional dreams come true, yet her heart was battered and broken. With an Olympic gold medal around her neck, she’s ready to look forward to the future but without the one man she wanted in it. She’s missing the key pieces of her heart she left months ago with the only person who was capable of destroying it, causing her to falter in all her plans to move on.
>In the game of life, there are winners and losers, and neither Jordie nor Kacey want to be on the losing bench. If only Jordie could convince Kacey he’s a changed man and that he wants her right by his side as his MVP for the biggest and best parts of a life they build together. With emotions running high and the game on the line, can two proud people find happiness with each other, or will their hearts and souls be left in the cold? Will they see that sometimes having someone by your side who knows the good, bad, and broken is better than going it alone and losing everything through the back of the net? They are out of time on the game clock and fighting for the win of their lives.

But overtime was made for an Assassin like Jordie.

Review:
From the moment I started reading this series I knew I was going to love it and each book just got better and better. Although I missed Lacey's book I was so happy to read this book and enjoyed the journey Aleo took me on.

Jordie was in love with Kacey and they had a friends with benefits type of relationship only to have Jordie start to ignore her and cut her loose. He made some terrible mistakes with drinking, sex, hurting Kacey and basically out of control until Ellie orders him to rehab.

Kacey is has won the gold metal in the Olympics and is still trying to get over Jordie. Her new job is with the assassins is just starting and she knows she will have to see Jordie so she starts dating a team member in the hopes that she has finally moved on, but of course somethings aren't that easy.

It was so great to catch up with the previous players and wives. Honestly those were some of my favorite parts of this book. I enjoyed getting back into their lives and reading how their kids are growing up and who had some new additions to their families.

I felt this book was a little different then the others that I have read. It was more emotional and had some serious topics but Aleo did a wonderful job in writing Jordie and Kaceys story. It actually felt as if I was their right along with them while they were going through the ups and downs of life and relationships.

The way these two came together and fought for everything they wanted was special and had me in tears while I was reading. Both of these characters were strong in their own way and they complemented each other.

Although this book was on the serious and emotional side Aleo did lighten it up with funny banter and hot sex. The one issue I had was trying to picture Kacey. For some reason her physical appearance wouldn't form in my head while I was reading.

I enjoyed that Aleo had some hockey scenes throughout the book which were in great detail and made it more realistic. I could only imagine all those hot men on the ice. *dreamy sigh*

I think I teared up in this book more then I have in any other book in this series. So before you start keep the tissues close. This was a wonderful addition to an already addictive series and I can't wait to see who is next!
