Fortune's Island #1
Shirley Jump
Releasing July 28th, 2015

Welcome to Fortune’s Island, where the only rule is to follow your heart.

Love is an extravagance Darcy Williams can’t afford. She prefers the simple life, which includes waitressing at The Love Shack and avoiding temptation. But when a forbidden part of her past steps off the ferry, her safe, guarded existence is turned upside down.

Kincaid Foster has never gotten over his first love. When he sees the wild, beautiful blonde again, dancing her way around The Love Shack, the memories of Darcy’s soft skin, gentle touch, and heated kisses come rushing back. As the privileged son of a wealthy family, Kincaid was too young to stand up to his overbearing father when he and Darcy were together. Now, he’s back on the island—free of the family shackles—and the chiseled, big-time lawyer wants a second chance.

But, Darcy made a promise to keep a secret from Kincaid—a secret that is now a six-year-old girl who looks just like her daddy. If Kincaid finds out about their daughter, Darcy could lose everything. But, she can’t resist the man who stole her heart all those years ago. And it doesn’t take long before both of them realize that anything can happen on a hot summer night.

Review :
What a fantastic book to kick off a new series! From the beginning of the book I loved the characters and the island. Darcy always dreamed of a better life and once she left home she thought she found it with Kincaid. Although Darcy was "the girl from the wrong side of the tracks" her love for Kincaid hasn't changed. He left the island, but now he is back after 7 years and he learned he has a daughter.

Jump takes you on a well written emotional roller coaster with family issues, abuse, and finding an happily ever after. At the end of the book I was in serious wow and tears. One thing I loved is that we got to hear from Darcy and Kincaid. It was nice to know how they both were thinking and feeling as things were brought up and started to unfold. Also I enjoyed the parts with Abby and Jillian and what is going on with their lives. It was great all these stories just rolled together and set up for future books. I also enjoyed that jump took us along for the ride of them falling for each other all over again instead of just listing moments.

I fell in love with Kincaid right alongside Darcy. He had some real smooth moments and you can tell he was a great guy. Although he had his own family issues I love how he stepped up and wanted to be there for Darcy since he never stopped loving her. The moments with his daughter, Emma had me laughing and routing that he could be apart of them. This might be one of my favorite books I have read this year.

I liked Darcy from the beginning. She wasn't annoying which was a plus but I liked her because she was strong and independent. She did everything she did for her daughter and didn't really regret it but always wondered if things would have been different if she told Kincaid from the beginning instead of letting him go. Although she had issues with her own mother that didn't stop her from being a damn good mother and it shows through out the story.

This was a great love story but it also had a bit of drama but it wasn't a lot and in the long run I think it helped the story flow better. Although I did wish for a epilogue, I can see catching up with these characters in the next book. Which by the way I am dying to read since it will be Julian's story. Overall I have high hopes for this series. Jump writes with heart and good humor that will keep you turning the pages. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I have!
