Guest Post & Giveaway with Author Cat Schield

Today I want to welcome Author Cat Schield..... Take it away Cat!!

Do you believe wishes come true?

Eleven years ago, just before I started the process to adopt my daughter, I made a list of 200 wishes.  They ranged from simple things like diapers to extravagant dreams of vacations to exotic locales.  I put on my list things I had no intention of working towards.  These were not goals.  They were wishes.  I wrote them down, and I put the list away.

Periodically, I pull out the list and highlight the wishes that were granted.  After more than a decade, half of my wishes have come true.  Of the ones that are left, three quarters of those are either no longer relevant or I no longer want them.  That leaves me with about twenty-five wishes that I’m still waiting to see fulfilled.

Of those wishes that became reality, three stand out.

#39:  I wished to sail the Greek islands.  When I made the wish, I was thinking a cruise ship, never imagining I would do it on a 43 foot sailboat.

#64:  I wished to finish writing a book.  A pie in the sky wish since all my time and energy was focused on adopting and I wasn’t doing any writing.

#116:  I wished to sell a book.  I never expected that this wish might get answered.  I’d tried four years earlier with no success and considered myself a complete failure.  But after becoming a mom, getting published was nearest and dearest to my heart.

Fast forward twelve years and my debut book for Harlequin Desire, MEDDLING WITH A MILLIONAIRE, just hit the shelves.

To celebrate my debut I wrote a novella that ties into Meddling With A Millionaire.  Her Secret Millionaire is the story of how Emma’s brother and Nathan’s best friend, Cody, meets the girl of his dreams and journeys to his happily ever after.  It’s available as a free read on my website.
How about you?  Have you made any wishes that have come true?

BLURB:

No Man’s Bargaining Chip

Emma Montgomery wouldn’t be manipulated into marriage as part of Daddy’s business deal—even if he cut off access to her trust fund until she complied. The talented jewelry designer would just make her own way. Or go down trying. Too bad her intended groom--maverick businessman and former crush Nathan Case--made her stubborn stance so difficult. The heat of his touch had her nearly betraying herself at every turn. Resisting Nathan and regaining her money were the name of the game—but meddling with this millionaire might land her right back in his arms!

  4. This is always such a tough question. I would love to do all sorts of things and visit all sorts of places but I am not the type to create lists and work toward them. I tend to live in the here and now.

  7. Jen B., Oh, but that was the beauty of the wish list. It wasn't anything I said I was going to work towards. It was simply a list of things I wanted. One wish was a place to get away on the weekends in the summer and the next thing I knew my parents bought a vacation place. Very cool!

  10. None of my wishes have come true, but that could be because I'm wishing big. Maybe I should start small & manageable.

  11. Marybelle, I recommend a mixture of big and small. Sometimes it takes a while for those big ones to come true. But in the meantime, you can enjoy all the small ones along the way.
