Hit List (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #20) by Laurell K. Hamilton

I am a big fan of the Anita Blake Series and I have been dying for this to be released. Now the time has come and I couldn't have been more happy and honored when asked to review the book. I try not to post any spoilers but it gets to be hard. Fans of the beginning Anita might very well pleased how this story takes a turn.

So, lets be honest the past couple of Anita books were kind of  whore-ish. I mean I think most of us could all agree on that. Hit List is more like the books that came out in the back in the beginning when you couldn't get enough of them which made it a excellent read. I can really say I actually enjoyed this one and didn't want to put it down. Savored it until the very last drop and with that I did.

This one was special because you see tons of Edward who I absolutely love. But the main focus isn't so much on her relationships and who she is doing on every other page, but all about the cases that her and Edward have teamed up to solve over in  Washington State. In the previous books you got to learn more about Edward, but in this one I got to see a different side of him. You also see more how Anita is getting a tad tired of all the blood and guts which makes for a more interesting plot. Since she is finding it all so tiresome you have to wonder will Anita Blake continue. .

Someone is off and killing the weretigers but that's not all and the plot does thicken. Believe me the work of  Harlequin is easy to recognize. Now the Mother of Darkness is set out to kill one of them and take over the others body. I just couldn't get enough of the action. I think its more action then I have seen in awhile in this series. Now her main men aren't really making any appearances in this story but you do get to see some returning faces such as Larry and Otto. And yes Otto still does have this thing going on for her which kinda creeps me out but fits perfectly in this storyline. Edward is still out to kill Otto if he makes a move on Anita, but since that hasn't happened he has no choice but to let him live. Although I got the feeling that might change very soon.

Overall I was happy about the outcome of the this book. Well, more than happy. I couldn't get enough of this read. This book happens to be fast paced and kind of exciting. More so then some of her last releases and its longer than them as well. Anita might not be as kick ass as she was but she still knows how to kicks ass. I am excited to see where the next story will pick up. I mean some things were tied together but Anita was still left open so that can go either way. I think most Anita readers will be as happy about the books outcome as I was. Laurell K. Hamilton brings back the Anita that we all started to love. I just hope the path of the books continues to move forward. So, if asked is this book worth the read, Yes I believe it is. Happy Reading!!!
