Review: Unbreak My Heart by Lorelei James

Blurb
The right love is worth the wait.

Sierra
Seven years have passed since I fell for Boone West. The brooding bad boy. We were friends, even when I secretly wanted more, but I settled for what he offered. After he left Wyoming--and me--I grew up. Moved on. Or so I believed until he blew back into my life with the scorching force of an Arizona desert wind.

I'm not that innocent sixteen-year-old girl anymore--I'm a businesswoman who swore never to settle again. But this older, wiser, hotter version of Boone unsettles me. How am I supposed to resist his megawatt smile and his built-army-strong body? Especially when he's inserting himself into every aspect of my life? Now he's determined to prove he can offer me everything that he couldn't before--and he's the only man that can fix the heart that he broke.

Boone
Joining the army? Best decision I ever made. Even though it meant I had to leave her behind. Sierra McKay. The wide-eyed beauty, who saw more in me than I saw in myself. I didn't dare offer her anything more than friendship, because one kiss, one touch and I wouldn't have had the guts to go.

I've worked hard to become the man I am. I have a career. A purpose. After a chance encounter with the one woman I never forgot--I'm not leaving anything else to chance. Now that I've chased her across three states, I'm ready to demonstrate that the passion we couldn't act on before burns hotter than ever between us. And I'll use every weapon in my arsenal to show Sierra McKay that she's always been mine.

NOTE: This is the first book in a spinoff New Adult series! No need to read the books in the Rough Riders series to enjoy it!

Review:
For all those readers who were waiting for Boone and Sierra's story like I was the wait is over! Believe me when I say this Unbreak My Heart is really good and you won't want to miss out on this story. If you read the Rough Riders series religiously like I did you remember that Boone left Sierra behind when he went to join the Army now seven years later he's back but Sierra is a McKay and stubbornness runs in the family.

I started Unbreak My Heart and I didn't want to put it down. Since this is the start to a New Adult series of course I was iffy on how it would turn out but the more I read the more I fell in love with Boone and Sierra all over again. In fact this didn't even feel like a new adult story it felt as if I was reading another addition to the Rough Riders series.

Not only are we reintroduced to Sierra and Boone but we meet a few new characters who helped bring there story together. The second generation of the McKay's are just as fun, flirty and just as much trouble as the first so I'm already looking forward to each of their individual stories in the future.

Now back to Boone and Sierra .. Okay I really loved these two. It was so good to see that they still had that connection they had from when they were teenagers. When the story started it could have gone a few different ways for them but like Boone I believe it was fated and James did an excellent job on telling their story. The first thing that captured my attention was the dual povs and I can't thank James enough for doing that. I loved getting inside both of their heads. After the awkwardness passed between them I just enjoyed how while they got to know each other again they still kept the friendly banter between them.

On top of the laughs and hot steamy scenes (oh my gawd are they hot!) their are a few emotional ones added in the mix. We learn more about Boone and Sierra's pasts before they even knew each other and I was surprised at some of things that came up. Part of me wanted to weep for the childhood Boone had but had to swoon over the man he became.

Boone was sweet, romantic but had this insecurity about him especially when it came to Sierra which was kinda sweet. Boone was definitely added to the book boyfriend list and not because of his alpha ways but also his dirty mouth. *wink* Sierra grew up to be independent, smart and a real business woman. I really enjoyed her as a heroine and while
I was reading I really respected all she accomplished during their time apart.

Their relationship moves from different phases pretty fast but I loved how they just rolled with it and were determined to make it work. Did I mention the hot steamy scenes? Lol There are a lot and in true James fashion she doesn't skimp on details so that was a another plus.

Overall, I'm already whining that I finished this so fast and now have to wait for the next story. I can't wait to find out which McKay will be the next to fall. If you loved the Rough Riders series you definitely don't want to miss Unbreak My Heart it was the perfect introduction for what looks to be a promising new series!
