Guest Post & Giveaway with Author Sarah Kate

Today I want to welcome Sarah Kate.....

When it comes to erotica the physical side of things might be more the focus, the thing that everyone perhaps comes to erotica for, as opposed to romance, but I enjoy the use of feelings and sensations to experience who the characters are, good or evil, to give them more substance in their roles.

Erotica does draw me in, though I don't read it in masses. The genre can be a hit or miss for me. Often it seems more two robots going through the motions in a sterile way, yet at the same time being "over the top".  Part of my attraction to erotica is because by reading good erotic fiction we can see how other humans deal with their own sexuality, allowing us to explore more into the sexual mind of others. By writing erotic fiction we can express our own sexual uniqueness, but also, depict wild and dark sexual thoughts, allowing us to take a glimpse into that world, and still be “normal people" when we walk away from it.
I enjoy realistic depictions of emotion whatever the circumstance. Sometimes graphic or explicit language is entirely necessary to achieve this, other times it can risk ruining it. It's up to the writer to choose artistically what's needed for each scene, we just have to hope that it works for us as well.

Regardless of genre, I want to be drawn into the story. For me,
that doesn't mean the plot has to be comparable to that of something on the New York Times best-seller list, but it must still have something there.  I enjoy the characters. Their emotions, reactions, and sensations all have to be relevant and believable.  I like something to have developed by each sexual encounter, so it's not just sex for the sake sex. Although, I have to say, sometimes sensation for the sake of sensation can be wonderful, in bed or on paper.
For the book give-away, I can simply email the eBook to whom ever the winner is.  Unfortunately since Amazon has blocked PWSC, we can't offer a direct to kindle option, though the winner can still side-load it of course :)

  1. Amazon banned this book? I find that interesting since they allow other and in some case more disturbing books to be sold there.

  2. I was first going to as what genre PWSC was, then I relaized it was theinitials of the book title. Duh! I think I need more caffeine cause it's 3:30 p.m. here. I should be awake.

I can't believe Amazon blocked it. Isn't it the company that was selling child love manuals a year or two ago?!? Claiming free speech, that they don't condone illegal activity, yada, yada, yada... Anything for a buck.

  3. I too am suprised that Amazon blocked a book. I don't see why they should do this, there are alot of books out there that deal with situations such as this, I think that as long as warnings are posted on them, they should be offered for those who want them. No one is forcing anyone to read them, but for those who want to, no one should be able to block/ban the book.
I would love to read this. Thanks for the chance.

  4. Amazon banning this is like Walmart not carrying certain "objectionable" books. It's ridiculous! I'll be if we looked we could find plenty of "objectionable" material on Amazon right now. The book description makes me nervous but I am still intrigued. Thanks for the giveaway.

  6. Hi everyone :) Sarah Kate here. Many thanks for the supportive comments regarding the banning of the book. Amazon was asked what specifically they didn't like but we only received generic 'cover letters' back from them saying "the content".

The content I believe of concern is simply because it's the mix of being sex, explicit and brutal (rape). There was talk of maybe they thought Nicole was underage, though that was clarified but it still wasn't permitted.

I know that there's a few Jack Ketchum books that are quite bad and are available. Oh well - best I can do is work my way around the problem and simply write more :)

Looking forward to hearing from the winner :)
