Review: Nearest Thing to Heaven by Lynnette Austin

Lynnette Austin presents the second book in her sassy Texas-set Maverick Junction series, now in mass market!

Ty Rawlins, the widowed father of rambunctious triplets, is at odds with Sophie London when she returns to Maverick Junction at Thanksgiving for her cousin Annelise Montjoy's wedding to Cash Hardeman. Chicago is home, where she runs Starlight Productions, her greeting card company. Sophie is a fish out of water in Texas. The cows freak her out. The long-horned steers are nightmare inducing. But Ty's triplets, one of whom spilled cherry soda on her white silk lap at Cash's barbecue, are enough to make her run all the way back to Illinois in her Jimmy Choos. What will it take for Ty to convince Sophie that Maverick Junction is where she belongs, right beside him and his boys?

Sophie London is a card designer that lives in Chicago. She went to Maverick Junction, Tx to talk her bestfriend/cousin to come home but now she is back for her wedding. On her last visit she met Ty Rawlins who is a widower with three triplet boys who can be a handful. She knows she should stay clear of him because let's face it she is a city girl and has no plans to stay in Texas.
When her ex starts to stalk her from Chicago with emails, calls and more she decides that maybe staying a little longer in Texas wouldn't be so bad after all but the last thing she expected was to be seeing so much of this hot cowboy and his family.

Ty Rawlins lost his first wife and has no plans in getting involved with anyone at least not serious. After all his boys come first. Of course he is attracted to her but he knows she isn't staying but when her ex starts stalking her Ty feels more protective day by day.

I really loved this story and found it adorable. Sophie comes off as a little standoffish but once she started to relax and take everything in she fit in perfectly in this town. The kids were so cute and I loved how they took to Sophie right away. Ty was a dream boat to begin with. He was sweet yet a little reluctant of her and what it would mean for her to be in his life.

From the beginning Sophie and Ty had great chemistry and I couldn't help but root for them to be a couple. I loved that their relationship took time and it wasn't rushed even though everyone was trying to throw them together left and right. The love scenes were hot yet sweet.

Overall, I thought this was one of the romantic stories I have read this year. This might have been my first book by Ms. Austin but I can promise it wont be my last. I am hoping to read book one and book three when I get some down time so I can meet the characters from the beginning.

About the Author:
Lynnette Austin loves Starbucks, peppermint patties, and long rides with the top down and the music cranked up! One of the great things about writing is that daydreaming is not only permissible but encouraged. She grew up in Pennsylvania, moved to New York, then to Wyoming, and presently divides her time between Florida's beaches and Georgia's mountains. She's been a finalist in RWA's Golden Heart Contest, PASIC's Book of Your Heart Contest, and Georgia Romance Writers' Maggie Contest. Having grown up in a small town, that's where her heart takes her-to those quirky small towns where everybody knows everybody...and all their business, for better or worse.
