Sawyer Kane may fill out those wranglers, but she won’t be distracted from her task. Annie just needs the summer to spruce up and sell her family’s farm so she and her young son can start a new life in the big city. Simple, easy, perfect.

Sawyer has always regretted letting the first girl he loved slip away. He won’t make the same mistake twice, but can he convince beautiful, wary Annie to trust her heart again when she’s been given every reason not to? And as a single kiss turns to so much more, can Annie give up her idea of perfect for a forever that’s blissfully real.

Author Info

Lia Riley writes offbeat New Adult and Contemporary Adult romance. After studying at the University of Montana-Missoula, she scoured the world armed only with a backpack, overconfidence and a terrible sense of direction. She counts shooting vodka with a Ukranian mechanic in Antarctica, sipping yerba mate with gauchos in Chile and swilling XXXX with stationhands in Outback Australia among her accomplishments.

A British literature fanatic at heart, Lia considers Mr. Darcy and Edward Rochester as her fictional boyfriends. Her very patient husband doesn't mind. Much. When not torturing heroes (because c'mon, who doesn't love a good tortured hero?), Lia herds unruly chickens, camps, beach combs, daydreams about future books, wades through a mile-high TBR pile and schemes yet another trip. Right now, Icelandic hot springs and Scottish castles sound mighty fine.

Review:

I thought this was a nice story to start off the series.

Sawyer is unbelievably sweet and trying to make things right with Annie. Right away you can tell he still has feelings for the girl who left him after a party that went wrong. Now that she is back and trying to sell her family home he only has a certain amount of time to win her heart for the second time. He knew she got married and divorced but he had no idea she had a son.

Annie has always been a little out there and something's never change but seeing sawyer again brings back old memories. While she is back home Annie is trying to get her life back together and take care of her son. Sawyer is a distraction she doesn't need but is soon welcomed. Even though Annie is trying to get herself together I think she is a strong women and is determined to make it.

I love how Sawyer secretly helps fix up her house and she starts to notice little by little. The way he is with her son is so adorable. Right from the beginning he understands they are a package deal and he wants to give Annie the time to decide and get to know her again. Sawyer knows they can make it work.

I loved the story and the characters. One of the best parts is when he apologizes for hurting her when it wasn't really his fault and Annie forgave him. Their wasn't a lot of drama which was a nice change. I was expecting her ex to come back and maybe start something but nothing so I was surprised.

One thing I was a little disappointed with was the ending. Although they got together I just expected a little more. In this book we learn about one of his brothers and not really about the other which was a let down. I guess I was just expecting more of brotherly banter.

I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series and to see where this series will go. If you are looking for a sweet romantic read with a sweet and hot sheriff this is the book for you.
