The Scent of Shadows By Vicki Pettersson

This is a new series to me, but it was totally intriguing. Giving this series a chance  was well worth it. And I wasn't disappointed. From the first page it captures your interest. Then as the story starts progressing it becomes wow. Jo hasn't had a dull moment and I loved that. She was written as strong but broken. Once her story starts to play out you can't help but want to be there for her. This is probably one of the best books I have had the pleasure to read this year.

I loved the setup of the opposing Shadow and Light zodiac teams. Lots of action, sarcastic remarks, emotional and some love. Just when you think things are heading one way , Vicki Pettersson throws you for a big loop. Two leading males come into play, but not enough romance. Some secrets are found out and it makes you want to read the next book asap.

Joanna Archer, finds out that she is the daughter of the leader of the Shadow Zodiac, while her mother is the a star sign of the Light Zodiac. She is destined to do many things but Jo will have free will to see what side of the Zodiac she will fall on. Being Joanna is tough because she possesses special skills from both sides

For me all these little details that get revealed part by part was enough to hook me alone, but what made me purely addicted to this book was how bad I had to know what was going to happen to Jo. I couldn't put this down.

Now I am super excited to see what will happen to Joanna Archer in the next book, The Taste of Night.

"When she was sixteen, Joanna Archer was brutally assaulted and left to die in the Nevada desert.

By rights, she should be dead.

Now a photographer by day, she prowls a different Las Vegas after sunset—a grim, secret Sin City where Light battles Shadow—seeking answers to whom or what she really is . . . and revenge for the horrors she was forced to endure.

But the nightmare is just beginning—for the demons are hunting Joanna, and the powerful shadows want her for their own . . . "
