Review: The Wedding Pact by Katee Robert

THE WEDDING PACT
by Katee Robert

Carrigan O'Malley has fallen in love with family enemy #1, James Halloran and he has absolutely no intention of letting her get away.  THE WEDDING PACT is the second book in a smoking-hot series about the O'Malleys—wealthy, powerful, and full of scandalous family secrets from New York Times Bestseller Katee Robert and Forever Romance.

Series: The O’Malley Series #2
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 26, 2016
Publisher: Grand Central Publishing- Forever

Synopsis:
Carrigan O'Malley has always known her arranged marriage would be more about power and prestige than passion. But after one taste of the hard-bodied, whiskey-voiced James Halloran, she's ruined for anyone else. Too bad James and his family are enemy number 1.

Hallorans vs. O'Malleys—that's how it's always been. James should be thinking more about how to expand his family's empire instead of how silky Carrigan's skin is against his and how he can next get her into his bed. Those are dangerous thoughts. But not nearly as dangerous as he'll be if he can't get what he wants: Carrigan by his side for the rest of their lives.

Review:
After reading the first O'Malley book I couldn't wait to get my hands on the second and not only because it was James and Carrigans story but because Robert opened up a new world I just couldn't get enough of.

For starters this book could be read as a standalone but I would suggest reading the previous book to understand and get the full effect of these two families and the history that is between them.

Robert really did write some amazing characters and it was truly hard to pick my favorite one in this novel. Although Carrigan and James come from very powerful families they let others see what they want to see and keep there true selves hidden.

James hates that he is the new head of the family since his father went to prison. He doesn't like what he has to do and his younger brother is far to reckless to take on that job. Carrigan also hates her role that she needs to marry so her family can basically have another family on there side.

After James and Carrigan hook up at a club they both attend James kidnapped her. Now weeks later he still can't get her off his mind and this is where this book picks up. These two are fighting the attraction they feel towards one another. Obviously due to their families they can't be together but that doesn't stop the flirting and baiting that they do.

James and Carrigan had some really hot scenes but there was more then attraction between them. They had this openness and understanding. They could just sit and talk and you could see they were meant to be.

I enjoyed how Robert made the story feel like older times set in 2016 where the family picks her husband. It was fun and I loved how it felt like a modern day Romeo and Juliet story without the whole death that comes. But Robert brought a lot of drama and suspense on what would happen and when which is what captured my attention.

While reading we learn more about the other O'Malley siblings and what they are up too. They are still dealing with the loss of their brother each in their own way. There are more stories to come (yay) and it looks like Cillian is going to be next (yippee).

If you haven't started this series you are missing out and I suggest you buy them today!
