The Taste of NIght by Vicki Petterson

After reading the first book in this series I was so excited to start this one. I found a lot of mixed reviews on it but I gave it go and loved it. The Scent of Shadows was a solid start to this paranormal series, but The Taste of Night brings on a whole new roller coaster ride. Now that the characters have been introduced, I dove right into the action packed book, which The Taste of Night does right in the first chapter.

Joanna Archer's life changed forever since the night her sister died. Now she struggles to adjust to her new lifestyle and the fellow Zodiac members and try to win the war against the Shadows. In this book, Jo frequently finds herself at odds with herself and the Light side and her Shadow side. She is trying to help Light win the war over the Shadow side instead of trying to find the balance in between. The Shadows themselves want to win Joanna over to their side and if she doesn't join they will simply destroy her. I had mixed feelings about Jo in this book. She wasn't as open and you can tell she is still haunted by her past and still trying to find her place throughout this story. Jo tends to make a lot of personal and professional mistakes and tends to act in her own self interest.

The world that Vicki Pettersson has created is coming together perfectly. It was for sure a step up from the first book in the series. I found this book even more enjoyable and exciting, and I am looking forward to starting the next book in the series, The Touch of Twilight.
