Q&A & Giveaway with Author Roxanne St.Claire

Today I want to welcome Roxanne St. Claire. Hi Roxanne thanks so much for stopping by to dish out some dirt.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I could tell you a lot, but you probably only want the good stuff.  Let’s see…first of all, everyone calls me Rocki.  Everyone!  Since I was born, in fact.  I’ve written almost thirty books for four publishers in multiple genres…I have been married for twenty years to a fabulous, funny, sexy Italian guy who can cook like a dream and makes me laugh at least once if not fifteen times a day…I have two teenagers who light up my life and wreck my laundry room…I have been showered with luck and blessings, but am also a bona fide workaholic who lives by the motto “good enough is never good enough.”  Oh, and I’m not a natural blonde.  Will that do?

Your newest series is the Guardian Angelinos series.  How did you come up with the concept for it?

When I moved to a new publisher, they wanted to “play off but change” the Bullet Catcher concepts…in other words, do the same thing only make it completely different.  So I decided what was missing in the BCs was family – those guys (and gals) are all connected by a business that forms an ad hoc family.  I switched it up by creating a family that forms an ad hoc business.  I wanted the Angelinos to be grittier, and less “elite” than the Bullet Catchers, more street smart than tech rich, you know?  No war room with multiple computers that track every case, but a break room with Uncle Nino’s ziti warming in the microwave.  I wanted to have cases and players that were not as slick, but just as sexy.  Of course, I went Italian because I married an Italian man who’s made me Italian By Association.  My maiden name is Roxanne St. Claire…but my married name is Rocki Frisiello.

This series is mainly about family.  How important was that while you were writing this?

The family is the heart and soul of the Guardian Angelinos concept, so it was all important to me.  In fact, when writing the first book, I had to pull back in revisions and cut a lot of scenes of just the Rossis and the Angelinos being together.  Of course, they were discussing the case, but I could just do entire scenes of Nino cooking and Aunt Fran hugging and JP lurking in the background and Chessie causing turmoil and Gabe missing in secret agent action.  Man, I love that family!

How many books do you plan on writing for this series because it seems like the Angelinos and Rossi's have a very large family.  LOL

A very large family and they should all have their own books!  I’ll write as many as I can, as long as the series feels vital and fresh.  I don’t know how many or when they’ll be released or what order the stories will be told or if they will be traditionally published or self-published.  I know that there could be stories for Gabe, Chessie, JP, Nicki, and more cousins I’ve yet to discover!

Lets talk agent Lang, whom we absolutely LOVE!  How did you come up with his character?

Oh my heavens, I love Lang.  I don’t know where he came from!  The first time he showed up on the page (in SHIVER OF FEAR – he’s mentioned in the end of EDGE OF SIGHT, but he’s never on the page) I just knew he was deep and sexy and troubled and strictly by the book.  I love men who live by the rules…and get shaken up by a little rule-buster.  The very first time I put him in a scene with Vivi, the sparks flew and I knew I would have a blast writing their book.  I did!

We would love to Agent Colton Lang as our very own Bullet Catcher. Can you make that happen?

No…but Gabe could be a Bullet Catcher….read on.

So Gabe is mentioned a lot in the Face of Danger Please tell us " this blue eyed angel" is next?

Gabe.  Sigh.  I’m mad for this man who swears like a devil and makes the sign of the cross when he thinks no one is watching.  I think he has a complicated past and a tortured soul.  I would love to write his book.  I haven’t yet…my publisher has asked me to take my next few books in a slightly different direction, and I’ve jumped on that challenge for many reasons.  So, the Angelinos are on hold for a short time while I create a brand new world, all new characters, and explore a completely different subgenre.

We know your Bullet Catcher and Guardian Angelinos series are intertwined. Will the future releases be as well?

They are currently “related” in that one of the Bullet Catchers, Johnny Christiano, is a distant cousin of the Angelinos.  But I’d like to combine them even more…my dream is to make Gabriel Rossi the first Guardian Angelino who goes to work as a consultant for the Bullet Catchers.  Oh, to have Vivi and Lucy in the same scene!  They are so much alike, yet so different.  In the end of FACE OF DANGER, Johnny mentions that Lucy might be in the market to buy the Angelino’s business….we shall see.

According to your website the 2012 releases will be up soon. When??? We are dying to know!

I’m just waiting for my publishers to confirm dates and titles.  As soon as I have them, I will share.  I know I will have two contemporaries out, one in the spring and one in the fall.  In addition, my first young adult novel will be released from Delacorte Press in hard cover.  We have a working title for that book, but (this is very cool!) the book has been optioned for film and as we speak, a screenplay based on my novel is being written.  If that movie gets made, we’d like the title of the book to match the movie, so I’m waiting to formally announce the title.

You also mentioned a new series to look forward to. Can you tell us a little about it?

I’m writing four contemporary romances set on a fictional island off the Gulf Coast of Florida.  Called the Barefoot Bay series, these books follow the lives and loves of four women who rebuild their businesses, their lives, and their hearts after a hurricane destroys much of the island.  Yes, very, very different!  I used to write Silhouette Desires and I adore straight contemporary romance with lots of humor, heart, sex and sass.  All of these stories are very hot, very emotional, and very focused on the heroine’s journey and the passionate men who take them on some heart-wrenching rides.

Do you have any other series in mind that you are dying to write about?

I always have a zillion ideas, characters popping into my head, story questions begging for an answer, compelling scenes I’d love to write.  All I know is that I’d like to write a hundred books before I quit, and I’m only a third of the way there!

Out of all the characters so fa,r which one was more fun and exciting to write about ? Only one Roxanne!  LOL

Vivi Angelino, hands down, without question.  Vivi was the most fun, complicated, surprising, hysterical, dear character I’ve ever created and I loved every minute I spent with her.  My editor wasn’t all about her at first – in EDGE OF SIGHT, she told me to tone her down, that readers wouldn’t like a skater girl with a nose pierce and spiked hair.  But Vivi had so much depth, and such a tender, heartbreaking back story that writing her book was a journey I’ll never forget.  Judging from the reader response, she has struck a chord for many women who love my books and I’m so happy about that!

Is there one character that you are dying to write about right this minute?

Gabe Rossi is just aching for a book!!!  And I’m aching to write it!

Bells and I have decided to read your bullet catcher series together. We would like to follow up with you when we have conquered them all and chat?  Do you think we can pick your brain when we are all done?

Yes, please!  I have my favorites in that series – certain guys I adore, a few heroines who touched me, as well.  The first book is out of print – unless you want to pay $22 for a print on demand version – or you are an ereader, then you can get it for a nice reasonable $5.99.  There are eight books and two novellas in the series, lots of super hot guys, very smart girls, and some pretty creepy bad guys.  Oh, and one unforgettable scene in a tool shed.  Enjoy!!!

OMG we are so excited to start on the Bullet Catcher series!!! Squueee!!! Thanks so much for coming by and taking the time to answer a few questions.

Roxanne is giving away all 3 copies of the Guardian Angelinos series to 1 lucky person. Please leave your email so we can contact you.

Review: Heat Waves by Susan Lyons

"Get ready...things are going to get hot.

Liz and Peter can't think of a sexier, more fun place to get married than the Greek Islands. And they're not the only ones looking for a steamy holiday, cruising into the sunset. Their friends, family, and even wedding planner and cruise director are on their own searches for some satisfaction on the waves..."

There is nothing more perfect then 2 stories rolled into one. Especially when they fall together so perfectly. Both of these amazing couples are sailing on the love boat over the Greek Islands and I can so picture everything so perfectly it makes me jealous to the core. But which couple can make more waves?

Rock the Boat is about a Widowed wedding planner named Gwen Austin who is convinced it is time to start living her life in more than one way. Starting a new life isn't going to be easy but she has the drive and determination to get it done. While on assignment in the Greek Islands she meets the sexy cruise director Santos Michaelides. Immediately a connection is made and the sparks cant or should I say wont stop flying. But when Gwen finds out he is really a undercover insurance investigator she is worried he will ruin all her hard work on the wedding she has planned.

Not only is Santos attracted to Gwen but he is sure trying to rock the boat with her and hopes it doesn't tip over. Santos ends up swooning Gwen but she isn't so sure she is ready to get so involved especially with him. With the cruise coming to end, Can their summer lovin last?

For some reason I really felt connected to Gwen. I mean I couldn't imagine losing my husband and having to start a new life. Not change who she is but to get back out there find a new career and maybe even a guy. I gave her a lot of credit because she was a strong heroine. Santos was  the sexy Greek god I would leave my hubs for in a heart beat. LOL I mean he has the walk and the talk *swoons* This was the perfect romance story as far as I am concerned. I mean just the story line got me hooked, lined and sinker. (that's how you say it right? ) Anyway, this story made my heart swell and bring tears to my eyes. I love stories that can make you think what would you do. It made a strong statement that even though life happens, you can still pick up the the remaining pieces and make the best with what you are given. Then overall embrace that like the strong woman you are. Way to go Susan!

Now on the second story that is all wrapped into one. Well, come to find out that Santos is actually investigating Flynn Kavanagh for the theft of over a million dollars. But to Flynn's surprise on this cruise he runs into the prosecuting attorney who tried him on his case. Kendra Kirk not only likes to work but enjoys it to the end. She goes on this cruise to relax and have a great time with her family, but when she runs into Flynn the plans seem to change as quickly as they started. Now don't get me wrong the sexy Flynn isn't happy to see her either. The funny thing is the sparks that are flying off these two and when I say wow....it just happens to be wow!

Now Flynn doesn't like Kendra for her the part she took in, in the trail but I think he is more mad at himself for not getting involved with her when the sparks first started flying when neither of them knew who the other was. Now they know its wrong to get involved and want to keep every detail secret but the fact of the matter is they can not keep their hands off each other but who can blame them with all that tension that has built up. Kendra will have to learn how to put her work on the back burner as they start making waves.

Lyons made every character so lovable I just didn't want it to end. This story was more than a story it was honestly the perfect blend of romance, hot sex and of course trust. I was sorry to see it come to a end but as they say all good things must. Lyons has intrigued me to read some of her other stories and I think it is safe to say she has totally gained a new fan. I hope everyone who reads this thinks of love and hope because really and honestly that is what I thought. It was so much more than some hot sex. Enjoy the love boat and Happy Reading!

Review: Can't Hurry Love (Three Kisses #3) by Christie Ridgway

"The pivotal event of the wedding season is the fiftieth anniversary celebration of the winery's bridal bubbly--a shared glass of this sparkling wine supposedly keeps couples in love forever. But worries over the festivities fly straight out of Giuliana Baci's head when she finds her apartment ablaze. Homeless and practically possessionless, Giuliana is forced into living in the house next door to the winery. Unfortunately, there's already someone in residence...

Liam Bennett staked his claim in Tanti Baci after stepping in to help the Baci sisters save their family legacy. But Giuliana doubts his motives. They've been at odds since the one hot summer long ago that ended in heartache. With the fate of the winery on the line, the former lovers will need to get a handle on the barely leashed hostilities. And with a tangled past and powerful emotions simmering just below the surface, the road back to love will be the biggest challenge of all."

Review:

This is my very first

The story is about Liam and Giuliana and from my understanding their tension has been building since the first book and I love a good tension story. Not only did they have the tension building but had tons of emotions between the two of them. Hostility and anger being some. The series is about two families that come to come together and save their winery. It just so happens that these three  sisters fall in love with three brothers. And heaven knows I love a good romance story that involves families. The sisters decided to plan a Vow-Over Weekend on the one year anniversary  to try to turn the winery around and get it back to making money. Jules had agreed to help for the year, but if things dont work out she will sell it and go back to her life.

Now even though I haven't read the first two books, I wasn't as lost as I thought I would be. You get the sense that something major happened in Liam and Jules’s past and what you find out is a shocker!! With both of them being the older siblings you would think they would understand each other more but one thing they cant deny is the sparks they throw off. While growing up they had a young love and were able to enjoy it. But when heart break and loss happens they let the necessary talk go for 10 years. I know thats crazy but somethings are just hard to deal with and I felt both their pain.

Now that they are back around each other and the sparks are still there, they need to have a long overdue talk and work it out. Their relationship was pretty hot and cold throughout the whole book. When one would make progress, the other would shut down and visa versa. Jules tends to make some decisions based on what she wants without speaking to her sisters about it. Which I totally did not agree with and needless to say, it doesn’t sit well with her sisters.

Overall I really did enjoy the book until the very end. Like I said before I have plans to start from the beginning to get a better understanding of these wonderful characters and how things came to be. I wish I got a little more time with Jules and Liam as a couple without all the anger, but it didn't ruin the story for me. I loved the plot and the scenes were well written. Although sometimes I did feel that the scenes were a bit wordy when I didn't feel they had to be.

It seems like a fun series to get into and enjoy. I mean I am a romance lover so as long as it has a happy ending and makes sense I am all for it. I am sorry to see it end, but look forward to what else Ridgway will have in store in the future. Very enjoyable read.

Guest Post & Giveaway with Author Jillian Chantal

Today I want to Welcome Author Jillian Chantal who I absolutely adore. *waves* Thanks Jillian for stopping by I really do appreciate it. So take it away....

Thanks, Danielle for having me here today. I love you and your blog and I'm excited to be with you and tell your readers about my latest release. It's called Redemption for the Devil. It takes place in 1920. It starts off in Ireland, moves to an ocean liner crossing the Atlantic Ocean, moves to New York and Chicago and then to the Arctic Ocean. It features fictionalized versions of real historical figures and even has a mobster or two show up.

The hero is a sexy Irish man that is a member of the Irish Republican Army. He's on a suicide mission to blow up an ocean liner. He thinks he has nothing to live for since he was recently released from Dublin Prison for taking part in the Easter Rebellion and his family has disowned him for bringing shame on them.

The heroine's father is missing and presumed dead in the Arctic. She leaves her home when her cousin arrives to take over the family business and tries to force her into marriage.

They meet on the RMS Mauretania and sparks fly. Liam is torn between his duty and his desires.

I hope you enjoyed this little blurb about the book and will check out the trailer (it's less than 2 minutes long). Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izodnXeyzDI

My hero is based on a young Alan Rickman because that man can sneer with the best of them and this hero is a real professional himself at sneering. Liam's a bit of a devil and that helped me choose the title of the book. I usually have an actor/model in mind as my inspiration for the stories I write so I can give him a face as I write his dialogue. I trust you'll substitute your favorite sneering lad as Liam in your head. I hope you have a great time reading about Liam and Peg's adventure.

EXCERPT

The two men Rena talked about noticed them and crossed the floor to where Peg and Rena stood. The taller one said, "I'm Devlin Cosgrove and this is me mate, Liam Cormac. And you ladies are..."

"Ooh, Peg, they's from your homeland. Hear that accent?" Rena said with glee.

Peg made eye contact with the two men. "Where do ye live?"

Devlin sketched a bow. "We hail from Dublin, Miss Peg. You?"

She said, "Cork."

Liam lifted one eyebrow and said, with a leer, "Let me guess. Your friend called you Peg. But you're really Miss Mary Margaret Whatever, nice Irish Catholic girl, go by Peg to seem informal but wouldn't open your legs for a man without a wedding ring, right? That sum it up?"

Peg gasped, stunned that a man she'd just met made such a statement. She wasn't so shocked as to be paralyzed, though, and she smacked him across the mouth, the sound carrying a bit even in the loud room. "How rude you are. You're not a nice man."

"Never said I was, did I ma'am? I can tell by the dress you have on, the thick stockings and the long hair braided on top of your head that you're wound tighter than the ropes holding this ship to its berth. I've been around the Catholics enough to know how rigid the women can be. Good luck to the man that tries to pull your dress over your head." With that last comment, Liam bowed at them, stalked off across the room and straight to a girl with bobbed hair and in a flapper-style dress.

"Well, Gor! What an ass your friend is," Rena said to Devlin.

Devlin said, "Ignore him, he's a bit uncouth. He's back in society after a three or four year break. Forgot how to talk to women. Especially the Catholic ones, Protestant yob that he is."

"Was he in prison?" Rena asked in a whisper.

"Not for me to say," Devlin replied with a shrug. "Now, what's your name?"

"I'm Rena Comstock."

"Rena, will you dance with me?" asked Devlin.

"Sure I'll dance. I love the Charleston." She turned to Peg. "You don't mind, do ye?"

"No," Peg said. "Go, have fun."

Peg headed to the bar and ordered a straight Paddy's Irish whisky, neat. She leaned on the wall near the bar to enjoy the drink. Taking a deep breath, she savored the smell of the liquor. Her da's favorite brand.

As she savored her first sip of the elixir, Liam walked over. "You must really be from Cork to be drinking Paddy Flaherty's whisky. Straight." He indicated her glass. "It'll grow hair on your chest."

"Did ya think I was lying about where I lived?" Peg snarled at the man she'd smacked just a few minutes prior, stunned at his audacity in approaching her again. Her hand itched to make contact with his face again.

"Can't trust many folks these days, Mary Margaret."

"Why are you here? You dismissed me as not worth your time. Why are you talking to me now?"

"I merely came over for a refill, Mary Margaret. Can't I be neighborly while I wait for my drink?" He leaned his elbows on the bar."

Or it will also be available at Barnes and Noble.com and Amazon.com

I'm giving away a free e-book to one commenter. Leave me a comment as to which locale you'd rather be: Ireland, New York, Chicago or the Arctic and why you chose that place.

You can find me on the web here: www.jillianchantal.com

Thanks Jillian for stopping by and I hope to have you back soon.  Good luck everyone!!

Review & Giveaway : How to Seduce a Scoundrel by Vicky Dreiling

"Miss Julianne Gatewick is in a pickle. It started when her brother's best friend-for whom she's long nursed a secret tendre-agreed to act as her guardian for the Season, only to seduce her with a risqué waltz. But when the music stopped and the expectant ton waited for Marc Darcett, Earl of Hawkfield, to claim her as his own, he made his disinterest clear. Rather than succumb to humiliation, Julianne does what any self-respecting, recently discarded young miss with a wicked sense of humor would do. She secretly pens a lady's guide to enticing unrepentant rakes . . . and it becomes the hottest scandal sheet in London.

Every honorable rake knows that friends' sisters are forbidden. But suddenly Julienne has a spark of mischief in her eyes that Hawk can't resist. Try as he might to push her away, he spends his days listening for her laughter and his nights dreaming of kissing her senseless. He's always avoided innocents and their marriage-minded mothers, but has the man least likely to wed finally met his match?"

Review:

This is my first Vicky Dreiling book EVER and I was totally wowed!! I have never been a fan of historicals, but I am now that's for sure.  Not only did this book catch my interest but I became to look deeper into Romance as a whole that's for sure.

Julianne has gone to stay with Marc's Aunt Hester while her new sister in law is off having birth to her first child. Since Julianne is about to start her first season in London and she is having a coming out party that is really not an issue. She is more interested in her Brother's best friend. Hopefully, Marc can notice her and come to his senses before it is far too late. Now Julie is very much determined to finally win his heart and with Aunt Hester 's help and all the pieces might finally come together.

Marc has acted to a brother to Julianne almost all her life. Although he is to act like her guardian while she is there to protect her from all the rouges that would want her. Marc takes his job very serious and is always up for the challenge. He even gives up his playboy ways during this time. Can Marc be keeping the Rougues away  to have her for himself?

I !00 percent loved Marc!!!! I could not squeee enough in his behalf. If Julianne didn't get him I totally would have. LOL This book is more then enticing but has a special zing to it. I mean I never would have thought I would dig historical so much. Geez!! I felt like I was home after a long journey .

Vicky really did an amazing job in describing every single details. I could picture the time, dresses and the balls in every single detail! Just fabulous!! The characters were truly a treat!! Fun loving and exciting is the best way I could explain this wonderful story. I am now smitten over this series to go back to the very first one who started it all... The Duke.

Dreiling is now one of my favorite authors and I am extremely excited to welcome her to the auto buy list. Her writing style was fun and never over the top. I just couldn't help to laugh at the humor in parts of  the book..I am so looking forward to what she has to come to in the future. And I also want to thank Vicky for opening me up to a whole new world I could get lost in. Happy Reading !

Guest Post & Giveaway with Author Ava Riley

Today I want to welcome back Author Ava Riley. *Waves* Thanks for coming back to join me Ava... Now I will let you take it away.....

ASacred Surrender:
When love gives you no other option but to surrender.
Rowan’s life had been perfect until his fiancée decided to seduce his best friend the night before their wedding and ultimately destroyed everything he’d dreamed of.  After breaking off the wedding and the relationship, he vowed to never allow another woman to have that much control over his heart again.  That is, until one morning when a knock on his door revealed beautiful, sexy Madison.   Madison, having just moved to sunny California from a small town in Kansas, is in awe of the hunky doctor living next door, but her insecurities keep her from accepting his initial advances.
The connection Rowan and Madison experience after a night of hot sex cannot be denied, but will Madison’s insecurities be too much for their relationship to flourish?  Will the relationship that Rowan is finally willing to accept end before it even gets a chance to start or can he convince Madison that her fears are unwarranted?
 ****************************************
When I wrote A Lifetime to Find Love and added Rowan in as a smaller part, I really never had the intention of writing a second book featuring him.  As his heart was revealed, however, I found that even though A Lifetime...was focused on Tessa and Cade's relationship, my heart broke for Rowan every time he came into the picture.  I just never really felt a release from him and I am so glad that I followed him where he decided to take me.  Sacred Surrender is a reminder to us, that no matter what kind of shitty experience we go through, when one door is closed, another one that is more amazing than we could ever image is opened to us.  Rowan and Madison compliment each other in a way that makes you laugh, cry, and say "aww."  Rowan is the sexy man we all dream of, always putting Madison first and even cooking for her on several different occasions (although they don't always get to the food).  The two of them truly heat things up and not always just in the bedroom.  Let's just say, that I would love to try their kind of spelunking some day!

This was my inspiration for Rowan:

I hope that you all enjoy reading the book as much as I enjoyed writing it.  In honor of its release, come over to my author blog... http://avarileyromance.blogspot.com/... where I am hosting an Online Release Party.

Want a chance to win a copy of Sacred Surrender (pdf format only)?   (                           )

Just answer this question to have your name entered into a drawing.  One winner will be chosen.

Rowan does several different romantic things for Madison throughout the book, buying flowers and even cooking dinner for her.  What is the one thing a man/woman can do for you that completely turns you on? Good Luck!!

As always, Happy Reading!
Ava Riley

Thanks Ava for stopping by again. It is always a pleasure to have you. Hopefully you will come back yet again. I can't wait to meet you in Philly! *suqueeeee*
